Shelby County Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.

Habitat has built more than 225,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. HFHI was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller along with his wife, Linda.

Since 1993, in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Habitat for Humanity has constructed over 1500 homes, invested over $84 million into affordable housing statewide, accounted for over three million volunteer hours statewide and provided safe and decent homes to over 6000 low-income working Kentucky families.

Visit the web site http://www.habitatshelbyky.org to become a volunteer or to download an application for a home.

Habitat welcomes all people--regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or any other difference--to build simple, decent, affordable houses with those who lack adequate shelter.
